MOD Special Projects Industry Day Monday 18 November with Optional Private Meetings Tuesday 19 November

MOD Special Projects Industry Day Monday 18 November 2024

The MOD Special Projects Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) and Strategic Command (UKStratCom) Industry Day provides a key opportunity for the Capability Sponsor, Delivery Agency and industry partners to connect, gain clearer understanding of the current capability programme, and discuss and help inform future requirements.

This presents an excellent opportunity for deeper engagement and networking with fellow experts in the field.

Open to participants from 5 EYES, NATO Countries and NATO Global Partners, the UK attendee will require minimum BPSS security clearance and for International Visitors, a foreign visit request to be submitted. Please see Entry Requirements for further information.

This year, the Applicant entry criteria minimum level of clearance of Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) aims to allow first-time entrants to the defence and security industry to attend the event, along with seasoned industry professionals.

UK Strategic Command Capability Special Projects (Cap SP) provides the capability sponsorship and development required to meet the demands of Special Users as well as Defence-wide CBRN and ECM. This is achieved by conducting near and long-term capability planning with a focus on innovation and emerging technologies.

The DE&S Special Projects Programme Delivery Group is responsible for the procurement and in-service support of a range of equipment capabilities identified by Cap SP for use primarily by Specialist Users.

UK Trade Visitors and OGD - Entry Requirements

Attendance at the MOD SP Industry Day 18 November 2024

Attendees will require to hold minimum Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), which must have been completed in order to attend.

As part of your application for a ticket, you will be required to upload the Verification Record (often referred to as BPSS-VR) to evidence the BPSS check has been completed.

What is BPSS and how do I obtain it?

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) acts as a pre-employment screening for people associated with industries such as defence, security, finance and energy. Those handling sensitive information are often required to pass the BPSS verification process. The process of obtaining BPSS usually takes 7 to 10 working days.

If you do not already hold the BPSS, you may apply for BPSS by contacting organisations such as ADS Group (if you are an existing member); or other commercial organisations by searching for ‘BPSS Clearance’ in your browser.

For further information, please see the link here

There are 4 parts to a BPSS :

  • 3 Years employment history check
  • Right to work in the UK check
  • Proof of Identity (photo and address) check
  • Unspent criminal convictions check (DBS/Disclosure Scotland/AccessNI – this does not need to be completed if a person is going forward for CTC/SC/DV)

The person signing off the BPSS is required to complete a BPSS-VR (Verification Record). As part of the registration, you will be requested to upload your BPSS-VR.

This evidence will be audited by the Security Vetting team, ADS Group, to ensure the check has been completed to the required UK Government standard.

The decision of the Security Vetting team will be final.
